Community, women’s circles, and Alice Walker
The circles of women around us weave invisible nets of love
and carry us when we are weak,
and sing with us when we are strong.

Being in community is inspiring, especially a sacred women’s circle, a circle of connection, friendship, laughter, tears. We come together to have communion with each other, to share a hug, to oh and ah over someone else. We need each other. We want each other. We support each other. We all want to be seen and heard. And this is a beautiful community that has continued to be built up for almost 100 years. Women for women, by women.
We had our monthly lovely women’s group in person the other night, my Creative Women of the Desert group! Our theme this month ( and probably forever!) was Stepping into our Feminine Divinity. I wanted to share with you parts of our discussion.
There is a great book by Twyla Tharp ( a great modern dancer), The Creative Habit, Learn it and Use it for Life.
“Creativity is not a gift from the gods, bestowed by some divine and mystical spark. It is the produc ot preparation and effort, and it’s with reach of everyone wo wants to achieve it. All it takes is the willingness to make creativity a habot an integral part of your life. “
