Aging Bodies as a 66-Year-Old Woman
My musings today, about this body of mine and the changes we all go through…
I’m almost 66 years old, and my body is changing. I’ve always been active, physical, a dancer and yogi and mover and shaker. I have always had a lot of energy. But I am noticing changes. I’m not as strong as I used to be, and I don’t have the same energy, close, but not the same. I get frustrated sometimes with these changes, but I’m learning to accept my aging body and appreciate all that it’s done for me. And it has done a lot!
My body has been my many forms of expression, physically and emotionally, spiritually, and mentally, for all of my creativity, and it has also been my money maker! As a dancer, global traveler, and teacher, it’s always been of the highest and utmost priority to keep strong, fit, and healthy, so I could do all the things I have already done.
And baby, I am not done yet.
Here are a few things I’ve learned about aging bodies:
- They’re not perfect. My skin is getting more and more wrinkled, my hair is grayer and grayer, and I have some new aches and pains. These are just the signs of a life well-lived.
