Why am I doing this thing? This 15 mile Swim Challenge? The obvious answer is to raise money for the American Cancer Society. That is the perceived outcome! And I have raised over $500 ( when I had a $200 goal!)

Today I have swum over 5 miles since the 1st of the month, and I have the rest of the month to finish it up. Easy for an advanced swimmer, but slow going for me, which I am loving. Not comparing, just acknowledging where I am in the game. This is day 10, and I have only taken one day off. I did 92 laps today, when 58 laps equal a ½ mile (you do the math!).

What inspired me to jump in the water to do this? A myriad of assorted reasons, really. I’ve been thinking about my time lately, and what more can I do to give back, to help raise awareness, to get others to walk their talk and get involved, in this case with their money, but also their awareness.

And we all know cancer sucks. I don’t think there is one person in the world that doesn’t know someone who has gotten cancer, survived or died from. My mother, for one, and today she is cancer-free. And there needs to be a cure, but there also needs to have more awareness of body wellness, preventative care, with the foods we eat and the way we love our body, our temple, so much more…
